Directors Timo Tjahjanto and Kimo Stamboel present murderous no holds barred butchery in “Headshot” starring Iko Uwais (“The Raid”, “Raid Redemption”). Uwais continues to ride the momentum from previous films, more action mixed with enough blood to satisfy any horror film fan. With fight choreography by the Uwais Team, “Headshot” packs a wallop!
The plot begins with Uwais in a coma recovering in the hospital after being shot in the head. He awakens with amnesia, forgetting he is a member of a ruthless gang of killers headed by Lee “The Father from Hell” (Sunny Pang). Lee is notorious for kidnapping children and training them to become professional assassins. As Uwais’s past catches up to him, it involves his doctor (Chelsea Islan), who Uwais has become fond of.
Look to see a great performance from Julie Estelle (Rika) as she perforates flesh at will with her knives. Tri Yulisman (Besi) displays masterful use of a baton. Uwais demonstrates his proficiency, intensity, as well the ability to absorb multiple beatings. The villain Lee impresses with classic Kung-Fu claw style! He masterfully uses his claw style to remove the mandible from a victim.
Simon Abrams of rogerebert.com writes: ” ”Headshot” is for anyone who liked “The Bourne Identity”, but wished it were way more violent.”
“Headshot” is an over the top bloodbath. Uwais “takes a licking but keeps on ticking” as he dispatches his former team of Killers. This film is a must watch!
